Empowerment through self-defense
Begin your journey towards self-empowerment by learning how to protect yourself in a safe, supported, empowered environment. Starting 2020 Tuff Love Fitness Collective will be holding monthly women's self-defense workshops at Four Elements Fitness in Oakland. Women and girls ages 9+ are welcome. No experience required.
Tuff Love Fitness Collective teamed up with the Sweaty Betties to launch a “Be Your Own Badass” campaign. Once a month in 2020 we will be offering a 2-hour Women’s Self-defense workshop taught by seasoned female Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts. The workshops will prepare you for common attack scenarios that women often encounter and how to thwart them. You’ll learn a set of safety strategies and leverage based physical techniques that will help you prevent, escape, resist and survive assaults from bigger and stronger attackers. The workshops will be held every first Saturday of each month (unless noted) at Four Elements Fitness.
Each month we will focus on a theme related to women’s self-defense such as:
*How to make yourself a “hard” target to prevent potential attacks
*How to break free from grabbing attacks without warning
*How to escape from being pinned to the ground
*How to counter attack from the back
*How to defend from a hair grab
*How to escape and prevent attacks in a confined space
*How to escape from a two-handed choke
*How to escape from being pinned against a wall
*How to defend from a weapon
*Learn the concepts of distance management to avoid getting punched
Each workshop starts with a series of warm-up exercises followed by instruction in a specific skill, and techniques practiced with a partner. The class ends with partner drills to build confidence and strengthen muscle memory.
The workshop registration is first come, first served basis. Women and girls ages 9+ are welcome. No experience required. We reserve the right to CLOSE REGISTRATION when we reach full capacity. No refund 5 days before the event date.

Mollii has 13 years of Martial Arts (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing) training under her belt. She is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), a certified Ginastica Natural instructor and fitness trainer with 10 years of experience teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, self-defense, boot camps, Tabata, yoga, and circuit classes with a specialization in Ginastica Natural and women's self-defense. Mollii has experience working with diverse populations with sensitive manner, including students of all ages, genders and Muslim women.
Mollii is a pillar of the women's BJJ community. Founder of Sweaty Betties, a SF, CA group dedicated to growing the women's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community through open mats, seminars & training camps. Mollii offers self-defense classes to her communities, among them the Muslim women community. In addition, Mollii volunteers at Guardian Gym in Oakland teaching women and kids classes.
